Ostrog Monastery and Black Lake excursion

We depart from Kotor early in the morning and head toward Žabljak. Along the way, you will enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Bay of Kotor, before reaching our first stop — Ostrog Monastery.

Ostrog Monastery is dedicated to Saint Basil of Ostrog and the miracles associated with him. The monastery complex consists of the Upper Monastery and the Lower Monastery. The Lower Monastery lies at the foot of the mountain and is easier to access, while the Upper Monastery, when viewed from afar, appears as if it were carved directly into the vertical rock face. This breathtaking sight feels almost unreal and leaves a powerful impression on every visitor. During your visit, you will have time to walk through the monastery complex, learn about the rich history of this sacred place, and discover the miracles of Saint Basil of Ostrog that attract pilgrims from all over the world.

After visiting Ostrog, we continue our journey toward Žabljak and Black Lake. Black Lake is widely considered the most beautiful lake in Durmitor National Park. It is located beneath the peak of Međed, and according to legend, the lake was created by Saint Sava. This is a perfect destination for true nature lovers, as the combination of pristine lakes and majestic mountains found around Žabljak is rarely seen in one place.

Our tour does not end here. Before returning to Kotor, we will stop at the famous Đurđevića Tara Bridge, which rises 127 meters above the Tara River. Built between 1938 and 1940, it is considered one of the most beautiful and impressive bridges in Montenegro.
